At Rwanda Drive & Tours, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information in accordance with Law N° 058/2021 of 13/10/2021 relating to the protection of personal data and privacy in the Republic of Rwanda.
1. Data We Collect
We collect personal information that you provide directly to us when booking a vehicle, requesting a tour quote, or contacting us:
- Identification data: Name, passport copy, driver's license number, and nationality.
- Contact information: Email address, WhatsApp/phone number, and physical billing address.
- Booking details: Rental dates, preferred vehicle category, destination route, and flight details.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, and cookie identifiers used during your visits to our website.
2. Purpose of Collection
We process your personal data for the following lawful purposes under Law N° 058/2021:
- To manage and execute your vehicle rental contracts and tour bookings.
- To verify your identity and driver's license validity for insurance coverage.
- To communicate booking updates, security warnings, and customer support messages.
- To comply with regulatory obligations set by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and security authorities.
3. Data Retention Period
We store your personal data only as long as necessary to complete your rental, fulfill tax obligations, and resolve potential insurance claims. Customer identity files are typically archived for 2 years following contract completion, after which they are securely deleted.
4. Data Transfer and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with third parties necessary to execute our services:
- Local vehicle insurance providers in Rwanda.
- Rwandan law enforcement or traffic police if required by law or in the event of an accident.
- National park authorities (Rwanda Development Board) for gorilla trekking or safari permit registrations.
5. Your Rights as a Data Subject
Under Rwanda's Law N° 058/2021, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access: You can request copies of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: You can ask us to correct incomplete or inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure: You can request that we delete your data under certain conditions.
- Right to object: You can object to the processing of your data for direct marketing purposes.

6. Cookies and Tracking
We use secure, functional cookies to remember your language preferences (/en/, /fr/, /sw/) and protect our forms from CSRF attacks. We do not use intrusive tracking cookies for behavioral advertisement profiling.
